Mighty Midget
Submitted by Ray Ricketts (originally tied by Craig Mathews)

Hook: TMC 2487, size18-22 (I cannot see to tie anything smaller)
Body: Black tying thread (8/0 or 12/0, depending on hook size) and x-sm silver wire
Thorax: Peacock herl or peacock ice dub
Hackle: Starling
Tie off thread just behind the eye. Start wire and wrap thread around wire to just above point of barb. Flat wrap thread back to 3/4 point of shank to form a smooth body. Take 3 to 4 wraps of wire to segment body. Tie off wire and break or clip excess. Either tie in peacock herl by the tip or sparingly use ice dub and form small thorax. Tie off thorax. Tie in starling hackle by tip and wrap forward one and a half turns to eye. If you start hackle by the butt, remove about 1/8 in. of the inside barbs to reduce overlapping and compacting the barbs. Form head and tie off.
I also tie this using red thread and gold or copper wire.
