Other Hendrickson Dries

CDC Dark Hendrickson

Hook: TMC100 (#12-14)

Thread: Uni-thread 8/0 rust colored

Tail: Dun microfibits

Body: Light brown/tan dry fly dubbing

Wing: Slate dun CDC feather(s)

This is a simple tie and credit belongs to Tom Dornack for showing me this super pattern.  It's absolutely a killer during Dark Hendrickson emergence.  Be sure to clip your CDC into a "tent" shape on top to give the wings a better profile.  The only downside to fishing CDC is that it's often hard to keep dry. especially when you're catching a ton of fish and the trout keep gumming up your fly.

Compara Dark Hendrickson

Hook: TMC100 (314)

Thread: Uni-thread 8/0 rust colored

Tail: Dun hackle fibers

Body: Light brown/tan dry fly dubbing

Wing: Dun colored snowshoe hare tied comparadun style

I haven't fished this creation yet, so the jury is still out.  I find myself tying with snowshoe hare more and more as the crinkly nature of the material looks buggy, as well as its high floatability.
