The Black Wet Fly

Tied by Chad Christenson
Hook:
TMC 3769 #12-16 (I tied mine with a size 14)
Thread: Black 8-0
Weight: 8 or so turns of lead-free
wire (.015 for size 14)
Shell Back:
about 15 strands of black Krystal Flash
Body: Black Ice Dubbing
Tie on your thread, and move it back to the middle
of the shank. Tie in the weight and wrap it forward. Wrap the thread back the
end of the shank. Tie in the Krystal Flash. Dub the body with the black ice
dubbing, leaving enough room at the front of the hook for the hackle and head.
Then, twist the Krystal Flash a few times to create a "rope", and then pull it
forward over the body. Tie the Krystal Flash down at the front of the hook with
several tight wraps of the thread. Then wrap the hackle as you would for any
other wet fly. Tie off with a neat head.
